PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE ![]()
Because so many factors interact to affect the ultimate quality of concrete, it has earned a reputation as one of the most variable of construction materials. To deal properly with all these factors, quality assurance is divided into two easily recognized categories or phases. First involves collecting evidence from standard tests to demonstrate that the delivered concrete was produced to the quality specified. Second involves the enforcement of good construction practices during placement, finishing and curing to achieve a satisfactory finished product. These two objectives of quality assurance can best be achieved by an experienced concrete technician who diligently exercises judgment in following their duties while under the direct supervision of the materials engineering laboratory. The type of concrete inspection and tests presented are those usually provided and are applicable to regular weight structural concrete, lightweight concrete, and paving concrete. • Mix Design |
